Kid Sister

There are many reasons that Kid Sister is currently garnering attention. In my opinion, it’s not that she has an excellent new single, Pro Nails featuring Kanye West, or that she guested on Beeper, a new club jam by The Count and Sinden, or that she just happens to be the Kid Sister of J2K of Flosstradamus, who also doubles as her DJ. It’s that beneath all that glitz of other people, Kid Sister shines the most solo. This girl is GOOD, and she’s taking the Chicago scene—and the rest of the nation—by storm.

The first song I ever heard by Kid Sister was Control, which is definitely one of her most infectious and fun tracks. I was instantly hooked and planned on posting it, but before I could post it, another song of hers caught my ears and heart. She also released Pro Nails without the Kanye but as the Happy Funtime Hour Mix which is what I posted today.

Although there are several awesome remixes of the song, including the absolutely fantastic Pro Nails Tepr Remix (which I also almost posted), this one is by far my favorite. The song boasts a full production that’s shinier and tighter than a silver spandex American Apparel swimsuit, and a fast beat that puts it high up on my Summer Jamz ‘OhEight list. It’s the kind of song that makes me shriek “Oh. my. god. This song makes me want to jet to Miami and go clubbing 24/7!!!” You know, assuming I was old enough to get into any of the clubs. Whatever.

Anyway, this song is the shit (although Control is a close second so you should check that out too) and I’m so stoked to find a girl in dance music who doesn’t have an overly breathy voice. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my breathy ass divas, but everything in moderation, right?

In the end, this song basically screams ALL NIGHT PARTY IN LOUD CLOTHES AND OVERSIZED JEWELRY AND BIG BEATS AND STACKS OF VINYL RECORDS, and I am always down for that.
