And you can dance! (for inspiration…)
Growing up, I never really paid that much attention to Madonna. I knew who she was (who doesn’t?) but I never listened to her, even as I discovered the joys of trashy pop music (especially europop trash) while living in Sweden during the summers of 2003, ‘04, and ‘05.
But the fall of 2005 Madonna released her single “Hung Up,” and I was officially hooked. And once you go Madonna, there’s no going back. All the other pop divas seemed like silly imitations compared Madonna. Not to say I still don’t indulge in other divas, but they just aren’t the real deal when you stack them up next to Madonna.
Ever since then I’ve liked Madonna, but my love didn’t truly come into full force until earlier this year when I heard her song “Vogue” for the first time. Wow. Wow. Wow. It remains one of my all time favorite Madonna songs. That song is all the sassiness and swagger that many girls can only wish to embody.
But the song I posted today is (shockingly) not “Vogue”; it’s my current favorite Madonna song, “Into The Groove.” I had heard “Into The Groove” before, but I never really heard it until a couple months ago when I recieved the vinyl single for it. Spinning it on my turntable, I heard once again the sass, carelessness, enthusiasm, and just absolute wild dancefloor fun that Madonna is so good at. I associate this song with some really great memories, but even if you don’t, it’s just so irresistible; you have to tap your feet. Also, as someone who may or may not have spent time dancing alone to music in my room, I might be able to relate to the lyrics.
I’m into the groove; what are you waiting for?
