You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you.
Ok, maybe not. But that’s the first line of Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me?”, which is currently battling it out with Mamma Mia for prime real estate in my head. Except, the version of “Don’t You Want Me?” that’s raging in my brain is the Zolof The Rock And Roll Destroyer cover, which is what I posted today.
I mean, sure, the original is pretty sick, especially what with the hilarious 80s music video that accompanies it, (please click the link to watch it, it will make your day that much better) but there’s something infinitely better about hearing Rachel & Vince sing it. Plus, the whole song is just SO them! And by them, I obviously mean Zolof The Rock And Roll Destroyer.
I think it’s the upbeat poppy music with somewhat angry lyrics that screams Zolof (and to a larger extent, Motion City Soundtrack) to me. Plus Vince and Rachel always make me smile because they are one of those awesome male-female synth pop-rock duos that actually are a couple in real life. Plus Rachel has super awesome hair…which doesn’t actually have any effect on the song, but it needed to be mentioned regardless.
Anyway…it’s a cute song and it’s been getting heavy rotation on ZOE FM, as I lovingly refer to my music heavy mind.
In other news, I now have comments (thanks, curt!!), so feel free to adore, abhor, or ignore.
