I saw this gem via Tiny Mix Tapes. Short version: some Harvard students had a funeral for DRM, aka the Digital Rights Management software that labels put in music so you can’t share it. It’s a funny idea, but as Tiny Mix Tapes points out, DRM is far from being dead, since most major labels still use it. As someone who staunchly supports buying music, it’s hard to take a side on DRM—but all in all, I think it’s a bit ridiculous to keep it in this changing climate. We need to find ways to make people WANT to buy music, instead of forcing them to.
