Doris Day On A Speeding Motorcycle (Don't Bring Me...
Once again I’ve contributed a mix to the now open to all communal LOFC. Anyone reading this, click the link asap and contribute your musical musings to a wide audience of bored Austin area high schoolers. School is officially out as of today so we’re all glued to our computer anyways! Woo!

Hey, Zoe C.S. here. I’ve made a short (for me, anyway) mix to help start LOFC back up....

More notes from Fun Fun Fun Fest; This time, Dan...
Yeah, it’s fangirl time…again. Here’s an excerpt from some of my Fun Fun Fun Fest notes about Dan Deacon:
At first glance, Dan Deacon’s set looked like any other rave show. There were the obligatory bright lights and obnoxious strobes, and the ravers were festival-going kids dressed up in unspeakably loud clothing they will regret in 5-10 years when they have traded in...
An Open Letter To Punk Rock Music (Written Roughly...
Dear Punk Rock,
Please take these roses. We need to talk. I came to the realization today that I need you back in my life. No more empty promises and false words; this time, I want to be with you for good.
See, after an amazing show I often think that a piece of my heart goes with the band as they leave the stage, the club, (and sometimes:) the city, the state. Tonight I feel as though a piece...
All the ACL mobile updates in one big snazzy post
So you don’t have to scroll through them all to get to my, ahem, more articulate writing. Ha. I must say, having a press pass to Austin City Limits Music Fest was one of my favorite musical experiences thus far.

Fun Fun Fun Fest 2008 Lineup →
Totally freaking amazing. Words cannot describe how excited I am for Fun Fun Fun Fest this year. I attended last year and it quickly became my absolute favorite festival, which is saying something since I have quite the soft spot for Warped Tour. But still; the lineup is incredible. Atmosphere? Bouncing Souls? Dead Milkmen? DOA? Tom Gabel? Chuck Ragen? And about 50 other awesome bands?...

Some CDs I've been jamming to or hating on.
So, when I’m not writing in this self-indulgent thing, I actually write for a couple small but legit music magazines. One of them is Austin’s own Soundcheck Magazine, and I solely do reviews for them. Although I prefer to do longer 300-400 word reviews for them, I also usually take a handful of blurb (50-100 word) reviews for them. Here’s a few recent ones to give you a sampling...
Tom DeLonge (Blink-182) speaks out on MCR "emo"... →
Some of you who keep up on “the scene” probably have noticed the hubbub in the last couple weeks around My Chemical Romance supposedly causing suicides. For those of you who don’t dabble in such things, the short version goes: a British girl commits suicide, her parents and the media blame emo music/My Chem (a British daily even went so far as to publish an article entitled...
Your Debut Album →
I was linked to this in a music blog (sorry, no memory of which one). It’s pretty ridiculous, but it actually kind of works.
If this is to be believed, my band will be called Ontario College of Certified Social Workers, and my debut album will be entitled Badly Written Third Act. See, it DOES kind of make sense. However, my album cover, which you can see here, isn’t exactly what I was...

I’m pretty stoked on this article. I suggest you check it out. More music coming soon, I promise. Things have been busy in my world—not so wasted almost summer.

I saw this gem via Tiny Mix Tapes. Short version: some Harvard students had a funeral for DRM, aka the Digital Rights Management software that labels put in music so you can’t share it. It’s a funny idea, but as Tiny Mix Tapes points out, DRM is far from being dead, since most major labels still use it. As someone who staunchly supports buying music, it’s hard to take a side on...
Summer, for a Change, Will Be Full of New Album... →
Interesting, if not unexpected. I’m looking forward to some summer releases and I think it’s a wise move to pump up summertime CDs. After all, tons of kids get summer jobs and have extra spending money laying around, while during the school year they depend on their parents or work a lot less. It would be wise to tap into that teenage summer spending market.
